Glorious Hindsight

Saturday, Mr B and I went for a drive to one of our favorite picturesque valleys, to see if we had missed the Fall foliage.

 

We were NOT disappointed! It was a plethora of glorious fall colors, everywhere we looked.

The colors of the maples were breath taking.

We love this little valley in which is in a neighboring county.

We were amazed at how many beautiful homes have been built in the past 16 years.

 We too had designed a home for this enchanted area.

Our hearts quickened as we approached the neighborhood where there is a beautiful piece of property, we had once stalked, dreamt about, explored and even put an offer on.

It had been on the market for over a year. Every time we drove up here, it still hadn’t sold.

That was 16 years ago and the asking price was ONLY 28,000 for 1.5 acres!

 We were advised to offer a low bid, since there hadn’t been any other action and WITHIN an hour of our low bid... the property sold to someone else! :{

The property is just up around the corner on the left, on the immediate right.  It was about 1.5 acres of lush greenery and color and has a BEAUTIFUL STREAM bubbling through.

The property itself was a challenge to build on, because of so many ravines. We were going to build our driveway over a bridge from the area right below.

In fact, this beautiful landscaped area was so steep, once I took an awkward tumble down it.  Afterwards I knew I was in trouble, because I was in so much pain.

 I had to have knee surgery to repair a torn cartilage, because I tore my Meniscus. :-)

This little piece of heaven has left an indeliable impression on me!;]

We saw they had subdivided the lot and FOUR homes had been built on this prime piece of property! They probably sold the lots for 250,000 a piece during the housing boom!!!

  (remember it was only 28,000 for all four lots then! OUCH)

Don’t you love hindsight???

So pretty... 

 Afterwards, we felt we should have offered the FULL asking price. Our home would have been paid off so fast and our retirement coffer filled!!! :-)

Now, we get to drive by AND WONDER WHAT OUR LIVES WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE living there in that beautiful peaceful area!

Although I KNOW, there had to be reasons, we ourselves didn’t foresee. The Lord knew that was not the right place for us to finish raising our family.
 I really believe this.

We rely on so heavily on Heavenly Father to help us with all our important decisions in life. So, I know this wasn’t meant to be.

Even though our hearts are still are a bit tender every time we drive up here, we KNOW there were reasons we didn’t get the property.

I have found if our family involves the Lord through diligent prayer in these important decisions of our lives, our life will go so much smoother.

 The right decision was made 16 years ago!

The thought also came Saturday as we drove back home, 'Maybe if we would have built there, our kids wouldn’t have married the wonderful companions they have.' I feel the Lord directed us exactly where he wanted and needed us to be at this time. For this I am thankful....

ALTHOUGH, you have to admit it SO gorgeous  in Maple Hills!
