ALOHA!

Thursday evening we enjoyed a beautiful Hawaiian Luau with, my Father in Law, Mont, who is 86 years young and lives in a retirement living center. The food and entertainment was wonderful, brought back many wonderful memories for him of the times when he and my mother in law, Grace lived on Molokai and the Big Island in the beautiful Islands of Hawaii.

My husband and his dad enjoying their dinner. He made it back in town during the afternoon in time so we could attend the Luau with Grandpa. Grandpa sure has made wonderful friends and really seems to enjoy living there with all the fun activities. Mostly playing bingo and shooting a good game of pool. He hasn't talked them into building a horseshoe pit YET....!!! He has three gold ribbons from the Senior games and holds the world record of in the Games getting the most ringers in a game. (He made 35 ringers out of 40! ) So he would love it if they would put in a horse shoe pit!

They had beautiful music and they opened the program with gorgeous patriotic music in tribute to all those who lost their lives on 9/11 and also for the soldiers and their families who are still fighting for our peace.

There were beautiful, graceful dancers who entertained and mesmerized us. Boy, they could shake their booties.

The food was wonderful! Lots of fresh fruit, Lomei salmon, pasta and veggie salads, Mahi Mahi, Pulled Pork, Teriaki Chicken and a whole roasted pork for sliced pork and so much more to choose from. They had plenty of beautiful desserts and breads to choose from. Yummy! ,I could eat this way every night!

During dinner he was so sweet and got up from the other side of table from where he and my husband were sitting and brought over a pink lei and took it from his neck and placed it around my neck and gave me a kiss on the cheek and told me he loved me. He had tears in eyes and I really appreciated this simple act of kindness and action of love he offered to me. You see, he is truly is a guys type of guy and only having sons of his own hasn't always related to his 4 daughters in law. So this hasn't happened to me very many times in 38 years of marriage to his son. He has been gracious and loving though, he hasn't demonstrated it. This was a special moment to me.

The only thing that could have been better were if his sweet and beloved wife, Grace could have been there and enjoyed the wonderful music with us. She passed away last year after a long battle of Alzheimer's. Mont cared for her all but the last month of her life. She loved beautiful colors and dancers amd there were plenty of both. She sure is missed by us all. She always loved the beautiful Hawaiian music. The live band last night was reminiscent of the beautiful big Hawaiian Hotel Bands.
